Our visit to Park House Stables was a great success; thank you to Anna Lisa Balding and all her team for their warm hospitality and a fascinating tour.
Around 40 guests were welcomed by Anna Lisa and some of her staff with afternoon tea in the Colours Room where she talked about the history of the stables; currently home to 98 staff and almost 200 racehorses.
To our collective relief, the day’s continuous downpour ceased at 5 o’clock and the tour of the stables and grounds commenced. It was an absorbing behind the scenes look at daily care of the horses and the preparation required for the racing season, as well as the relationships between the Balding family, their staff and the horses owners. At the close of the visit we were joined by Andrew Balding, who had just returned from a (rained off) race meeting at Salisbury. A flavour of the visit can be seen in these photos.
